Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP)

Discover AMP

A tuition-free magnet school program preparing high school students for college, job certifications, and agricultural careers.

At AMP you don’t just learn agriculture — you do agriculture.

You’ll work with real livestock, advanced mechanical systems, and professional-grade laboratories that mirror the food, fiber, and natural resource industries. Our curriculum builds from foundational agricultural knowledge into specialized career pathways, preparing you for industry certifications and helping you discover your direction before graduation.

What Is AMP?

The Agriscience Magnet Program (AMP) is a nationally recognized model for agricultural education located on a twenty-acre facility at Madison High School. As a tuition-free magnet school program, AMP provides an immersive, hands-on education for students across San Antonio interested in agricultural science and FFA. Our curriculum is designed to cover a wide spectrum of agricultural topics, ensuring students gain both knowledge and skills through twenty-five specialized magnet courses across six specialized career pathways.

Our dynamic environment is supported by state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring that students are developing practical skills that are directly applicable to modern agricultural careers. Students learn outside the classroom to work toward career certifications and college credits, helping them build professional portfolios that prepares them for both higher education and immediate career entry.

Who Thrives at AMP

AMP is designed for students who are curious about agirculuture and want more than a traditional classroom experience. Our progressive approach nurtures each student’s interests from day one, helping them excel regardless of their prior experience in agriculture.

Students who thrive here are often:

  • Interested in how food, fiber, and natural resource industries work.
  • Motivated by problem-solving and hands-on learning.
  • Looking for direction before graduation — whether that’s college, a career, or both.

No prior experience required

AMP welcomes students from within and outside NEISD boundaries and is built to support students as they discover their strengths and interests in agriscience and agriculture.

Students begin at different skill levels and grow through structured curriculum, guided instruction, and ongoing support. What matters most is curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

What Makes AMP Different

Industry-Aligned Curriculum

Built around recognized credentials like AWS Welding, TVMA Veterinary Assistant, and Elanco Animal Science certifications.

Hands-On Learning

Students engage in Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE), which include ownership of businesses, internships, and research projects.

Early Direction

AMP helps students explore college and career pathways before graduation — not after.

How AMP Works

Students follow a structured pathway, building toward mastery and certification:

Outcomes That Matter—For Parents and Students

Students at the AMP Magnet School Program graduate with more than credits — they graduate with options.

Throughout the program, students work toward industry-recognized certifications that strengthen both college applications and career readiness. These credentials reflect skills that colleges and employers recognize and value.

Graduates commonly pursue:

  • College majors in food science, mechanical engineering, and wildlife biology.
  • Professional roles as veterinarians, landscape architects, and animal nutritionists.
  • Continued certification pathways alongside higher education.

By the time students graduate, they have explored real career pathways, built foundational experience, and gained clarity about what comes next — rather than trying to figure it out after high school.

Student Life

Students have access to:

  • Academic support, tutoring, and certification test preparation.
  • Student organizations, competitions, and clubs connected to animals and agriculture.
  • Opportunities to collaborate, lead, and grow alongside peers with shared interests.

AMP combines advanced academics with a strong sense of community and support. The program is intentionally structured to support students both academically and personally. Small learning environments, engaged instructors, and hands-on experiences help students build confidence as they develop technical skills.
